With the new Soundgarden album already being touted as the first ever pre-release of an album on a music game, what may have previously felt like some cool swag now seems more like an afterthought. Sure, there will be some My Chemical Romance fans who pre-ordered the game before returning to this paragraph, but for the vast majority of Guitar Hero players there isn’t much motivation here.
Guitar Hero has been playing second fiddle to Rock Band ever since the latter was released, and with the inclusion of the new Pro Mode in Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero is just a small speck in the distance. Warriors of Rock is trying to separate itself from Rock Band with more storyline heavy content, but it’s too little too late for the franchise. Get yourself a strap or some plastic wings if you like, but if you are on a limited budget, save your money for Rock Band.
Are you like me and feel that nothing can be done to resurrect this dying franchise, or were these pre-order bonuses just the icing on an already delicious cake? Let us know in the comments below.
