The Combat Shotgun has always been one of GTA’s best firearms, but this iconic weapon hasn’t appeared in the HD universe since GTA 4 released over 12 years ago. Thankfully, Cayo Perico finally lets players acquire the Combat Shotgun, but it won’t be dropped by any enemies or be available from a shop initially. Instead, the Combat Shotgun has several different spawn points around the island and this guide will make sure players don’t miss it.

Unlocking the Combat Shotgun
Cayo Perico Island can only be traveled to once players have started the Cayo Perico Heist so check that the initial missions like meeting Miguel Madrazo are already completed. Upon arrival, the Combat Shotgun is tucked away inside El Rubio’s residence, which isn’t immediately accessible and requires finishing heist setups like getting a submarine. After satisfying these conditions, the shotgun will be in one of 7 locations within the mansion propped up against a wall or bench. Many players have reported finding it more commonly in the southernmost spot, but be prepared to search each one. Note that it can be claimed anytime during the heist finale.
The Combat Shotgun is best used at close range with its 6-shell limit but has a higher fire rate and damage that makes it better than other members of its family such as the Pump or Assault Shotguns. Once acquired, GTA Online players can purchase it at Ammu-nation gun stores in-game for $295,000 along with other optional customizations including a flashlight, suppressor, and various tints.
Even after getting the shotgun, there are still other things for players to do on Cayo Perico Island. While the lack of true free-roam may disappoint some GTA Online veterans, the improvements to night clubs and revamp of heists with multiple endings ensures plenty of replay value in the near future. And anyone tackling the final heist once again has another opportunity to pick up the new Perico Pistol.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
