As compared by Reddit user QrixPL in a side-by-side video, the pre-update version of Grand Theft Auto Online’s Oppressor MK 2 rockets functions differently from today’s version of the same vehicle. GTA Online players can modify their Oppressor MK 2 to use multiple types of weapons like standard machine guns or ones that utilize explosive rounds, but the rockets have been the most heavily nerfed in this week’s update. Oppressor MK 2 owners in GTA Online may consider re-purposing the hoverbike to use one of the other weapons after the changes or look into alternate upgrades like armor or engine improvements.

QrixPL’s Grand Theft Auto Online clip highlights the massive changes to the Oppressor MK 2 rockets that have resulted in the projectiles being much less accurate. While the left side of the video shows a pinpoint precise missile blowing up a GTA Online armored vehicle, the right side portrays the same type of car parked in the exact spot, but it remains unscathed. The missile in the pre-patch version of GTA Online hones directly on the nearest threat with a big explosion but the nerfs to the weapon have the weaker missiles targeting an area in front of the player which seems to require the player to aim more than they would have needed to before.

Rockstar Games has seemingly made these nerfs to the hoverbike among the list of popular Grand Theft Auto Online vehicles because the Oppressor MK 2 rockets have resulted in more untimely deaths than the other weapon attachments. QrixPL’s GTA Online clip shows just how easily players could explode other vehicles using the MK 2 rockets prior to the nerfs while highlighting how imprecise they are now. Not only does the video show the nearby vehicle being immune from the Oppressor MK 2 rockets, but multiple cars go through the intersection as the missiles collide with pavement or nearby buildings instead of picking one of the available targets.

Although Rockstar may make further adjustments to the Oppressor MK 2 and its weapons, many responses to QrixPL’s clip are eulogizing the missile and vehicle combo. Some Grand Theft Auto Online fans took the opportunity to remind players that the MK 2 is still the best way to move around the GTA 5 Los Santos map, while some defended the Sparrow for its ability to shoot forward in a straight line even faster. Because of how easily GTA Online players could defeat others using the MK 2 rockets before the update, some players celebrated the nerf and suggested that fans of the explosive weapon before the changes adopt new techniques.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
