Here’s the short description of Grand Theft Auto Online’s Motor Wars, taken from the Rockstar’s Smuggler’s Runrelease notes:

Parachutes, shrinking battle arena, guns and vehicles spread throughout, and last one standing wins – if you had to describe Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds in a sentence it’d be almost identical. The battle royale genre is growing quickly and Rockstar won’t be the last to join in.

In all fairness, Grand Theft Auto Online’s Motor Wars sounds like it focuses much more heavily on vehicular combat than Battlegrounds, and the limit of only four teams ensures that matches will proceed quickly. Group that with the fact that Grand Theft Auto’s third-person combat is a world apart from Battleground’s semi-realism, so while similar both can offer distinct and enjoyable alternatives to each other.

Players can check out the Motor Wars Adversary Mode in GTA Online right now as part of the Smuggler’s Run patch and decide for themselves what’s more fun. Smuggler’s Run is packed with new content for online Grand Theft Auto 5 players beyond just Motor Wars, including 7 new aircraft, two new cars, and a customizable hangar where players can park their planes. Rockstar continues to deliver substantial high-quality content for Grand Theft Auto Online now four years running and it’s hard to say what the developer will add next.

Grand Theft Auto 5’s Smugglers Run update for Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
