Part of what makes GTA Online’s stunts fun is that many of them would be nigh impossible to pull off in real life. Whether it’s due to the game’s weird physics or simply an improbable situation, the uniqueness of stunts in GTA 5 and GTA Online lets players do crazy things like perform skateboarding nosegrinds in a tanker truck.

That’s exactly what Redditor ChipmunkTime shared with the world. A brief video shows them approaching an overpass in an Apocalypse Cerberus, a large tanker truck that can be acquired through the Arena War system. As they approach the traffic barrier, they trigger the truck’s jump mod, launching it into the air and becoming vertical, pointing the nose of the truck down towards the barrier. The truck lands on the barrier perfectly, and proceeds to skid across it for a distance, effectively pulling off a nosegrind trick in the massive truck.
Fellow fans of the game were very impressed, comparing the maneuver to moves they’d previously accomplished in skateboarding games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Others suggested new locales for the stunt driver to try an even longer nosegrind, which the OP seemed amicable to attempting.
GTA Online, like many of the GTA games that came before it, is home to some very interesting world physics. Even if a similar launch mechanism were installed into a tanker truck in the real world, landing the way that it did likely would have destroyed the driver’s cabin under the sheer weight and inertia of the massive tanker it’s carrying. However, it’s also not the weirdest physics glitch in GTA, as players have long been taking advantage of things like the GTA 4 swingset glitch or gates in GTA 5 that send players flying when they bump into them just the right way.
Tricks like this show how the GTA Online community has found ways to entertain itself, even if it’s not part of the core content of the game. With the game rapidly approaching its 10th anniversary, fans have had mixed reactions over the impending release of the GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced edition, with some excited for an overhaul while others would prefer a new game. Until GTA 6 launches, though, players like ChipmunkTime will find ways to make the game fun for themselves and onlookers.
GTA Online is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching March 18.
